A technical deep-dive seminar that brought together over 200 industry experts to discuss hydrocarbons, safety and innovation.
On May 23rd, the first seminar organized by Frascold in collaboration with the Department of Industrial Engineering at the University of Padua took place in Padua, under the title “Hydrocarbons in the Future of HVAC/R”. This educational event provided a platform for more than 200 professionals, technicians and industry operators to engage in technical discussions and knowledge sharing.
The seminar was born in response to a period of profound transformation in the fields of refrigeration, air conditioning and heating. Evolving European regulations, the growing adoption of natural refrigerants and the increasing demand for sustainable solutions are rapidly reshaping the technological and operational landscape of the HVAC/R sector. Within this context, the seminar offered an in-depth and up-to-date analysis of the role of hydrocarbons, highlighting their potential, challenges and impact throughout the design, installation and maintenance phases of HVAC/R systems.
Presentations from 15 speakers, selected among top experts, industry technicians and academic representatives, covered key technical topics. These included analysis of F-Gas and safety regulations, performance parameters of systems using hydrocarbons and the procedures required to ensure their safe and efficient use. Special focus was placed on heat pumps using propane as a natural refrigerant, innovative solutions for high-performance compressors and high-temperature applications reaching up to 170°C, significantly expanding the use cases for hydrocarbons.
But it wasn’t just theory: each presentation offered practical insights, real-world case studies and reflections drawn from hands-on experience, providing participants with tools they could immediately apply in their daily work. The seminar delved into critical aspects such as the evolution of European legislation, safety implications and technological prospects for a sector rapidly moving toward increasingly sustainable and high-performance solutions.
Beyond technical training, the seminar was also a valuable opportunity for interaction among professionals, a moment for exchange and networking, where experiences, solutions and future scenarios were shared. The participation of over 200 attendees highlights the strong interest and urgent need for the industry to stay informed and prepared for a transition that is now both inevitable and constantly evolving.
