Frascold at Refrigera 2025
Sustainable innovation for every temperature
Frascold announces its presence at Refrigera 2025, from 5th to 7th November at BolognaFiere, booth A02-B05 - hall 30.
This is an opportunity for Frascold to share its vision of technology as an accessible ally, providing efficient, cutting-edge solutions that promote decarbonisation. This is a path that aligns with the company's strategy of sustainable innovation, which guarantees reliability and optimal performance at all temperatures.
Ilaria Guzzetti – Event & Trade Marketing Specialist at Frascold explains: "The exhibition itinerary will guide visitors through an immersive experience of four new technological solutions, showcasing the evolution of Frascold's range of products for heating, air conditioning and refrigeration. These four technologies demonstrate Frascold's dedication to innovation across the entire temperature spectrum, offering effective, dependable and eco-friendly solutions for all applications." Ms Guzzetti concludes that "The common thread between these solutions is their ability to transform complexity into opportunities, paving the way for a more efficient, sustainable and affordable future for all."
The exhibition itinerary begins with solutions designed for high temperatures. It opens with the ATEX-HT Series before moving on to the new W models, which extend the range of ATEX-certified standard piston compressors. The exhibition concludes with a section dedicated to the cold chain, showcasing the Aluminium and CO2 Two-Stage series of compressors, highlighting the growing and increasingly more comprehensive range of natural refrigerants available.
p> In response to market demand, Frascold is expanding its field of action with the new series of ATEX-HT semi-hermetic piston compressors, specifically designed for use with hydrocarbons, such as propane (R290), butane and isobutane. With an operating temperature of up to 135 °C for butane, 115 °C for isobutane and 85 °C for propane, these compressors are the ideal solution for reducing emissions from medium and large industrial and commercial buildings.
Taking a further step forward after high-temperature applications, Frascold introduces the new W models of the standard piston series. These ATEX-certified models represent the link between heating, air conditioning and refrigeration.
These highly versatile semi-hermetic compressors can handle volumetric displacements ranging from 259 to 284 m³/h at 50 Hz, making them ideal for industrial applications with motors of up to 100 HP. The latter stands out thanks to its ability to combine compact dimensions with a high volumetric flow rate. These characteristics make it suitable for use in medium-scale systems in processing industries, as well as in precision air conditioning and refrigeration systems. What's more, size W can be used in both hot and cold applications, as well as in new contexts that were previously out of reach due to dimensional restrictions.
The third protagonist is the compressor of the Aluminium series, which is the result of significant technological progress at Frascold. Building on the consolidated experience of the FVR range, this series enhances its performance and introduces the option of using ammonia (NH3) as a natural refrigerant with a GWP of zero. Thanks to their advanced design and the use of aluminium motors that are free of copper and coatings, Aluminium compressors guarantee continuous operation with high levels of airtightness and safety, thus reducing the risk of refrigerant leakage even in small systems. These peculiarities extend the adoption of ammonia in applications where its use was previously complex or limited, such as ice rinks, food storage centres, and production processes requiring medium or low temperatures. The models available have volumetric displacements ranging from 315 to 470 m³/h at 50 Hz and motors ranging from 130 to 160 HP. They guarantee top reliability and silent operation, thanks to a carefully balanced design, internal motor positioning and top energy efficiency, guaranteed by the permanent magnet technology and the double VI, which optimises performance according to the operating conditions of the system.
The final section of the set-up is dedicated to showcasing the Two-Stage CO2 range. This line represents Frascold's solution for operations at low evaporation temperatures in subcritical and transcritical conditions. It is capable of handling significant pressure fluctuations. Thanks to its two-stage configuration, it eliminates the need for the multiple units traditionally required for cascades or booster systems, as it can handle two different pressure fluctuations with just one compressor. The range includes eleven models, which are divided into three size categories. The volumetric displacement ranges from 1.5 to 12.6 m³/h at 50 Hz in the first stage, and from 1.5 to 8.9 m³/h at 50 Hz in the second stage. The motors range from 3 to 30 HP. Thanks to its compact design and high efficiency, it is particularly well-suited to the ice cream industry and the pharmaceutical sector, as well as any other context where space is a critical factor. Thanks to its reliability, silent operation and operational flexibility, it can be integrated into systems equipped with a de-superheater, flash gas bypass or external inverter, making Co₂technology accessible for more compact applications too.
Alongside the exhibition, Frascold has planned several technical insight sessions, reaffirming its commitment to knowledge sharing and collaboration with key players in the industry.
In particular, in collaboration with Centro Studi Galileo, Frascold will take part in two technical sessions at Refrigera Show 2025:
Wednesday, November 5 – 10:45 – 11:30 a.m. (Hall 30, booth CSG–ATF E32–F31)
Presentation “Compressors for high-temperature heat pumps up to 170 °C”, by Maurizio Mastrapasqua, Product Manager at Frascold.
The session, dedicated to the European project InterHeat, will explore Frascold’s latest innovations for high-temperature heat pumps, with a focus on efficiency and sustainability in industrial applications. (Session held in Italian).
