Frascold technology for an efficient and sustainable Soritronic chiller serving a major Italian confectionery company.

 

Frascold powers Soritronic’s innovative chiller, designed for an air handling unit (AHU) dedicated to cooling the packaging department for finished confectionery products at the plant of a major Italian confectionery company, where sponge cake-based snacks are produced.

For over 20 years, Soritronic and Frascold have been collaborating to provide this confectionery company with advanced and reliable refrigeration solutions. Quiet and efficient, Frascold compressors not only ensure optimal performance but also represent the technological heart of our chiller, designed to reduce water and electricity consumption, achieving superior efficiency across the different seasonal operating conditions of the system,” says Massimiliano Valentinuz, CEO of Soritronic.

The machine is equipped with two compact semi-hermetic screw compressors from the CX Air range, specifically the CXH01-70-264Y model, controlled by two external inverters to optimize energy performance and precisely adapt to variations in thermal load. It consists of two independent 160 kW circuits, for a total of 320 kW. Equipped with a double-circuit plate evaporator with an evaporation temperature of -1°C, it also includes, in addition to a shell and tube condenser and adiabatic cooler, an economizer that further contributes to improving the overall efficiency of the system. Finally, the choice to use a low GWP refrigerant highlights the shared commitment by Frascold and Soritronic to developing more sustainable solutions in compliance with the new F-Gas Regulation.

In the confectionery sector, even the ambient cooling system in the packaging department plays a crucial role. In this delicate phase, proper air conditioning helps maintain stable environmental conditions necessary to preserve the quality and integrity of the finished product. Stable, well-controlled temperatures promote the efficiency of production lines, prevent interruptions caused by thermal variations, and contribute to maintaining the hygiene and health standards required for high-quality products.
